  • Missing colours in render - possible VrayFur issue

    Hi All

    This is weird.

Using both QMC/LM and IR/LM also give these results. LightMap appears to look fine during the Calc.

    Using 1.47.03 + Max8 SP3. Mats are all Vray.

Originally thought it could be a memory issue with the VrayFur and have experimented with dynamic and static mem. There are no errors I can see when rendering.

We’ve also merged everything into a fresh new MAX file.

The scene has just under 1million polys. 1 Vray light. Around 20 photometrics + a couple of standards.
Two duplicate VrayFurs acting a rugs. These VrayFurs have GI visibility turned off in Vray properties. (Both Receive/Generate GI are still checked)

I can render small low res versions without VrayFur OK.

    Any ideas?

The results are very similar to this post.

You now the drill. We’re meeting with the client to present finals this afternoon.

    hmmmm

I would suggest not using vray fur in interriors as there are bugs with it in 1.47 version.

yes, but if it makes your life hell then dont do it
I would recomend, although I never tried this, perhaps making max hair modifier and collapsing it into mesh, then exporting it as vray proxy, or just having max hair modifier in geometry mode. Might work.

For now it looks like going back to my old displacement rugs.

I'll have an experiment with Max Hair / vray proxies at another time.

          Thanks

              have resolved the problem.

It came down to an instancing issue. The geometry the Vrayfur was referencing was accidentially instanced twice.

              ...... VrayFur doesn't like instancing.

Thanks Jacks. Hope you're enjoying it over there.
