  • Pool Coping Mapping

    Hello folks,

    I am working on mapping the coping of a pool. Below is what I am trying to achieve.

    Anyone kindly interested in helping me out and telling me how the hell I can do this?

    I also attached the max file if you need it.

        I actually have already made the coping. I already used sweep which seems to have done the job for me.

        BUT.....

        The problem is actually the mapping not the modeling.

        If you open the max file you will see that mapping around the corners seem to be hard to do and thats what I am trying to achieve.

          I think you've run the wrong and the longest way to do what you need.

          Here is my idea...


          I would add the joits details in the main box before running it over the spline,
          so no BUMP will be needed... Then you just need a nice MIX map for you diffuse.

            for the mapping with the sweep use world coordinates in both your mat and sweep

              I use Candelero's method, but my personal choice here would be to swap out to the standard nice rounded concrete coping. It grinds better once the pool is finally emptied. Any other skateboarders/3d guys here?

                Does he want to use world, or does he want to tick the "Gen. Mapping Coords." in the sweep? I was under the impression that generating the mapping coordinates within the sweep(or loft) was the only way to get it to follow the spline path

                EDIT: I would have to say that candelero's method would definately give a better look. Modeling details always looks better than mapping details...if you are willing to wait for a good light calc.
