  • Memory problems

    I have an unusual problem.
Im trying to render a scene which was fine last week but today it is not.
I get the handling error all the time, no matter what res I use.
I did searches on here and read the vray troubleshooting tips and came away with the 3g switch in the boot.ini file.

Where do I find this file and what exactly do i change to make it happen?

I tried to render to strips but without the irr.map that cant finish calculating, its useless.

    Any help guys?
    TIA

I guess it depends on what you did to the scene during the last week

If you've added tons of polygons then it probably is a memory problem.

Occasionally I'll create complex refractive vray materials that will suddenly bring vray to its knees... try a simple override material and test render...

        Thanks for the reply!

Im going to try it now and if it doesnt work then my ram went bad. Never had that happen b4.

I didnt change the scene and it is exactly as b4 so, its a hardware problem or something, dunno.

        Thanks again!

Well the 3g switched worked but it omits a bucket on my dual core system when rendering final image?

          Is this natural?

It shouldn't have any affect on that.

Look here for other memory troubleshooting:

Actually, I went out and bought a few more sticks of ram, good ones, and took off the switch; everything runs as it should.

Thanks for all the help and Im glad good help is still free and friendly!
