  • URGENT: Authorization

I sent in an e-mail to vray@chaosgroup.com explaining why I need a new authorization code on Friday morning. I was hoping to have one when I arrived today...looks like I am not the only one that enjoy's my weekends

If I cannot get the authorization right away, just let me know. I am going to have to go to IT to get them to hook up the old machine if I do not get a response within an hour or so as my project is to ship today, and I cannot get the materaials and renderings done until I have a working VRLServer.

    Thanks

We are, sort of, up and running with the old computer connected to the network, but we are having numerous issues. We may be able to hobble through today, but it would be muuuuch easier if we could just get that auth code!

I wish I had those USB dongles about now :P

We were given an auth code, but it was only for one seat...we have, in total, 6 purchased seats, and a person to fill each and every one on a daily basis. We are, yet again, waiting for a response.

I have two seats. I still have not had any response. Looks like I am going to disappoint my clients again today. Its amazing I tore down my workstation and my server and completly rebuilt them. reinstalled all my software authorized it and the only thing I am waiting on is Chaos Group. All the money that people have poured into their software and you would think they would have a better system. You have six seats that are not getting used! Customer service is very important. You would think they would have someone issuing auth codes all day long every day. Bad customer service form them equals bad customer service from me. Two days lost and counting.....

Actually afaik Tedi's job for the most part is handing out auth codes, Im sure there is a good reason that you have now received your codes yet as Ive been using vray from the begining and have yet to have anything bad to say about chaos or their business practices.

I love Vray and Chaos Group. I dont know what I would do with out it. I am finding that out right now. I have not had anythig bad to say about them to this point. I rebuilt my workstations on the weekend so I could be up and running by monday. I was prepaired to go with out my Vray on Monday but Tuesday's Gone and no resopnse. Go with out your vray for a coulple business days not knowing when you are going to get it back. Beestee is paying five persons to twiddle their thumbs. I am not saying anything bad about Chaos Group, I am only pointing out how poor their licensing system is.

If you had installed the licensing on a server to begin with using network licensing, it wouldn't matter if you tore apart the workstations or not.

And Chaosgroup is in Bulgaria, so you can't expect any further responses from them today.

I made my old workstation (Dual 3.06 Supermicro x5da my server and I built a new workstation (Dual 3.4 Asus NCCH-DL). I added a couple U320 Drives to my new server and reformated it. So there was no way to save my licenses since I changed hardware. I did all this on Sat. and submitted for auth code Sunday morning my time. So Chaos has had my request for over two business days with no resopnse.

Add me to the list of loving everything about VRay except response from emails to Chaos Group. Very few ever get answered and authorizations are brutally slow. I got totally hosed on a couple projects now...

Ideally I should have had an auth code waiting in my inbox this morning then?

And after the announcement of the USB dongles, we were hoping they would be released before 2 generations of workstation upgrades had passed. Looks like we were wrong.

I love the guys at chaosgroup, they put out an amazing product, and offer amazing support through this forum, but they need to get the kinks worked out of their licensing because it is costing their clients(us) time and money. In the end, the reason we use their product is to save us time and money. Reasonably, though, the tradeoff for licensing hassles is quite minimal in comparison, but it is absolutely frustrating at the time.
