  • White dots in animation with 1.5

    Hi all.

Now I am guessing that the reason for the white dots in the following animation are due to me using the vraysky in my environment override and reflection/refraction override slots. Is this true? If this is the case, it means I am having the same problem as using a HDR to light/reflect the scene where the sun, being sooooooo bright, results in certain samples thinking that the average brightness is sooooooo bright. With a HDR, you paint out the sun (never done that).

I used LC/IRmap (medium settings/2000 samples). The AA filter was the Cook Variable filter set to 2.75 which seems to help get rid of the moire effect of the profiled cladding. I used the Reinhard mapping with settings of 1.5/0.85/1.0 (which now having read one or two posts on this forum should be more like 1.0/0.3/1.0).

Of course, I could be barking up the wrong tree, but any pointers on this?

I know its a bit of a crappy animation, but its just a test at this stage.

    Thanks in advance.

    url coming soon...

These seem to be reflections/highlights of the sun; if you check both "sub-pixel mapping" and "clamp colors" options for the color mapping, the spots should be reduced a lot.

can this be done once the solution has been calculated? (i doubt it)
