  • Show Map in Viewport Crash Error

For a few instance i was happy with the "Show Map in Viewport" of the VrayMtl in 3dsmax 9 but it doesn't work. So don't be tempted to press or it will crash max.

    Best regards,

Hi Vlado, i tried in max 8 and it still crashed max. I used a procedural checker map in the diffuse slot, in both maxes.

Ok then; if worse comes to worse, we can remove this option.

The problem is not in the individual maps but on shader level (root), Da_Elf.
Vlado, isn't it possible to redirect the "default" show map of the vraymtl to the diffuse slot. It would be a really nice time saver if it work. For now i'm so used to the old workflow that i won't pressed the button by mistake many times.

I'am on max 9 - 32bit (at home i will check 65bit) quadro fx 3500 - Dx9. In OpenGL it works!!. But since the big optimizations are on dx9 i will stay in dx.

In scenes made with 47.03 and saved with maps on, once loaded in max 9/rc3 they'll crash even if i try the menu command to hide them all.

It will crash only with DirectX; this is corrected now for RC4.

Lele, you couldn't have saved a scene with the maps on in 1.47, since this button was greyed out in that version and could not have been on, so I suppose something else is going on. If you wish, you can send a crashing scene to me at vlado@chaosgroup.com to take a look.

                        Best regards,
                        Vlado
