  • last bucket taking forever?

Anyone else been having issues with last bucket taking forever to finish? Been seeing that more and more in the office across several workstations. It will hang and you can't really do anything but just sit there and let it finish. Can't even cancel it.

there is always one that is slower,

possibly that bucket is representing one of the slower cpu's on your network, or maybe a "virtual" hyper threaded cpu

        is this relating to DR?
sometimes i've had that and have been screaming out for a DR management program so that you can cancel buckets and reassign faster machines...
I know i'm not alone in this wish..

Happen to me too to wait for so mcuh long time the last bucket calculation
I think could be texture problem i mean too big in res or the pc have to find it in many sides (folders on pc).
              That's is what I think
              good luck

the computer specs are probably irrelevant as its on several different workstations that are all different but still fairly new. When I say its the last bucket, I dont mean its some bucket in the middle of the image that one process just stayed stuck on while the rest flew. Its consistently what would be one of the last 4 buckets, any one of the last 4 processors could be working on. No DR involved as its all local renders. Im pretty sure it might be scene size related, but it seems I only work on mega size scenes these days

I've been having this problem too. on local renders no dr. last bucket just hangs for sometimes 20 seconds or more.

I think it is just V-Ray unloading from memory, I remember it used to finish the last bucket and then "hang" for a bit before it was done and returned to Max, Just now the last bucket marker still shows so it looks like it is working?

There is something odd at that point, which I have noted to look into.

                      Best regards,

thanks vlado. It might also be related to using max 9 (32bit in this case) and vray rc3. I can't recall exactly when it started happening, but coincidentally, Ive recently started using max 9 more.

we have noticed it on max 9 (64bit) on our dual quad core nodes

It's a very old issue present even in 1.47 builds; it is possible that newer hardware only makes it more apparent.

                            Best regards,
                            Vlado

Just an update. Ive noticed that when I have the vray log window up, the log spits out that its finished the rendering and yet the last bucket will still sit there. Then the log will give last bit of info about errors and warnings THEN I have access to scene again.
