We are having this same issue here, whichever the last 3 or 4 buckets are, in any part of the scene the render will sit there for half of the time it took to render the rest of the image. Has anyone found a solution? is it omething to do with the raycast settings? we turned off render channels and the trees too!

Used to have this problem in 1.5 running 8GB of ram. Key thing that I've started doing since then is using the QMC for primary GI calcs and upgraded to a 980X + 24GB of ram. Haven't had this problem since even with a few similar spec'd rendernodes in DR. It's definitely a bug though, most likely to do with render sampling settings and or DR.

we've been having this too, across all machines dual/quad and up to 16 gig ram, didn't seam to matter
I was thinking it was a sampling issues when a bucket got to a hot reflection. Looking forward to any fixes on this

Same here.... It started fine rendering swiftly at about 1.5 min per frame. I was all happy.
After about the 20th frame it went to 3-4 min per frame because of that blasted last bucket...just sitting there all retarded.
Hipnotized, I sat there looking at it, frame after frame. I don't know why I stared, and it strikes me how much time I lost just glaring at that bucket, dumbfounded and increasingly irritated. Looking back, I realize my angry gaze just added to the problem. I could of just walked away:+)

I had that problem on a large scene last week. Aerial animation with lots of trees - rendering ground to a halt after about 120 frames. Render time went from 2-3 minutes to 10+ hours. Hanging on the last buckets - not just the last bucket, the last bucket(s) plural. Thought it might be a bug with Forest Pro, but after a day of troubleshooting the scene, I found that upping the dynamic memory from 2000 to 4000 fixed it. Definitely a bug in how it is handling the memory. What use to crash max now seems to make buckets hang.

I have had the stuck last bucket issue in several different cases. Scenes with no plugin used anywhere, ranging from very complex to super simple and also in some exterior scenes where I used Forest Pro to distribute thousands and thousands of trees / grass objects. I have my Dyn.Memory limit set to 10000MB (12GB physical memory). Most of the scenes that displayed this problem didn't even come close to using 10000MB, more like 3GB to 4GB tops. I have also tried setting it lower and higher with the same results. So it's not just memory handling causing this issue, or maybe it isn't even a memory issue at all? And even better, the same scenes that had the issue rendered just fine when I had to do them again.... so where's the logic in that?it's a weird, seemingly random, problem... and it's also hard to test settings because of the randomness in which this occurs.
The only thing that is common in all my tests is that I use DR. So maybe it is some kind of network communication problem??

Hello vlado
We recently start using vrayStereoscopic cam.
Some scene with vreayStereo helper taking forever at last bucket.
When recreate the helper the scene works normally. And with time, last bucket taking forever.
64Bits : Vray 2.0 SP1 - MAX 2011 - Seven SP1.
Another strange thing with vrayStereoscopic helper, it need to be visible to work...
Best regards.
