  • Unrecoverable Crashes

I've been having quite a few unrecoverable crashes. I can't seem to replicate it, but it happens after applying a diffuse map to a vraymtl, rendering (with gi) and then right clicking the diffuse slot on the material and hitting "clear"...

Any ideas? Max closes, asks if I want to try and save the scene, and I hit ok, and it says "Recovery failed" and I lose my work.

    Specs: Max9 32bit// RC3

    UPDATE!!!!
    Reproducable: across several machines

    Do this:
    ----------
    -open a new scene
    -open material editor
-create a vraymtl in any slot
-assign any bitmap to the diffuse slot of the vraymtl
-check the visible in viewport checkerbox to make the diffuse appear in the viewport
-go up one level back to the vraymtl level
-right-click the diffuse 'm' and click "clear"

Max will hold for 2seconds and then crash giving you an unrecoverable error

    Vray or max related?

This is a problem in 3dsmax 9 specifically and happens because of changes in the 3dsmax SDK. It should be fine for newer builds.
