Flickering/shimmering to reflective mats and shadows
Thanks for your suggestions Vlado, they have stopped the flickering/shimmering !
There are two other anomolies which have arisen below;
1. The greenish/multi-coloured dots that populate the junction between the wall and ceiling. I thought they were something to do with the LC settings - also below;
2. The floor in the corridor has a strong noise pattern on it that moves with the camera, again I have no idea why - maybe it has something to do with the LC Scale setting or Filter setting ?
By changing to Adaptive QMC and increasing the Min to 0 has removed the shimmering/flickering effect in the animation so, thanks to everyone for their help.
But now, the glossies are noisey and are creating a flickering effect. How do I stop noisey glossies ?
I'm definitly being punished for something that I've done in this life or a previous one - judging by the amount of problems I'm having to render a simple interior animation, it must have been pretty bad !
There are no procedural maps in the textures and there are no maps in the reflection slots.
Increasing the glossy subdivisions is having a beneficial effect but why do I have to increase these so much higher than I had to before - and get a worse result ?
Also, on the table, why is there noise on the vertical side and not on the horizontal ?
IMHO, the vertical part of the table has speculars which is from the light source outside the door. while the table top doesnt have the reflection of the light source. unlocking the link between highligh gloss and refl. gloss and setting highlight gloss to 1 might help.
another option is to unlock reflection and specular glossiness.
Set reflection glossiness to 1, and the specular glossiness to whatever you have now for the ref. glossiness.
In presence of a directly lit object, the difference should be minimal, the difference in rendertimes should be stellar.
What I don't understand is that I was getting perfect results with 1.49 with much lesser settings and less render time.
On this same scene? The 1.5 version is not too different from the 1.49 versions, both render at approximately the same speeds (although recent builds of 1.5 tend to be somewhat faster).
