  • full-float images in Max 9 and 1.5 RC3 - only with .vrimg?

I currently use Max 8 and 1.5 RC2. I use LWF with MFB so as to use strip rendering in BB. I also save all my images in .EXR so as to maintain the gamma from the MFB as well as to keep them full-float for exposure control.

I read somewhere here (though I can't find the thread now) that in RC3 the only way to save a true 32-bit full-float image is by saving as a .VRIMG and then converting to .EXR. For some reason RC3 doesn't save full-float directly to .EXR.

Is this true? And if so, how do I save to .VRIMG from MFB or BB for that matter? And if I can't, how do I get full-float images out of BB if I upgrade to Max 9 and have to use RC3? BB doesn't support VFB which is the only way I can figure to save .VRIMG.

VFB is still supported with strip rendering, but the saving function of the VFB doesnt update the filename-numbering for the strips so they overwrite themselves.

There was some combination of settings for the standard fileout that did full float. But to be honest i dont remeber them. They are in one of the comping threads if i recall right....took me a while of testing to find out back then, but my brain is a mess nowadays :/

So VFB does work with BB now.. I hadn't tested since 1.47

But as you say its quite difficult to get it to work with strips? I need it to be really simple so my junior people can do it easily. RC4 supposedly solves this problem though... hope it comes out soon.

Now I remember why I'm still on Max 8...

Or could we get RC2 for Max 9?
