  • invalid bump normal

    hi there...

it seems not a major problem, but V-Ray message window returns a bunch of warning messages, every time I'm rendering.

warning: Texture "foam_def" returned an invalid bump normal (XYZ 1,#QNAN, 1,#QNAN, 1,#QNAN).
    warning: Invalid bump normal
Anyone an idea, what might cause these errors?

What kind of texture is it?

    Best regards,

      It's a procedural one.

Here's an example-file with that material included (no such error occurs in this scene afaik), but I didn't change the values within the scene that I'm not allowed to show at this moment.

Are you using displacement? I have gotten that message before when using displacement which causes geometry to intersect each other.

This can also be from missing UV Mapping or Smoothing missing,
Add a UV map Modifier (then render) and then a Smooth Modifier (then render) and see if it goes away.
          Cheers

I'm not using any displacement in that scene, but gonna check if uv-mapping is applied and whether the error goes away with having uv-mapping on or off.
