    hi there

i encountered some weird artifacts in my latest renderings (you have to zoom in the image to see it better).
this may look like a D.E. problem, but could'nt figure it out yet.
has someone had this problem before?
is there a solution? have already done a search on the forum.
    i'm running Max9 (P.Booster) on XP64 and Vray 1.5RC3

    thanks in advance.
    ale

Are you using DE? have you tried just turning it off and seeing if it renders ok?

I think the solution - is to rise irrmap settings to smth like "high".
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

          thanks guys...

it has nothing to do with DE so far, as the problem persists.
the irrmap is already quite high (-3,-1, HSPH60, IntSp. 20).
it's the bump on the wall that causes those strange spots.
when i disable the bump, they're gone.
how can i still have the bump on the wall without those annoying artifacts?
is there some workaround? have i to use a normal map instead of a bump-map?
          thanks for further help.

What exactly troubles you about the images? The "Noisy" look can be reduced if you increase the bump map size or decrease the bump map strength.

              Best regards,

                hi vlado

here are two pics that show the problem i mean.
there is seriously some kind of bug with the bump, as when i remove it,
the problem's gone. never had such weird results in prev. versions (1.47.03) and there isn't any kind of modeling issue.

                thank you

Hmm your LC info is missing, could you provide that as well.

Having not used DE much myself, you have set the radius to 20CM thats seem way to big to pick up any detail. I would suggest dropping it alot. Try 2-5cm see if that makes any difference.
I could also be releated to your LC.. but unlikely.
<edit> scrub that.. just read the info on it and it seems to be the opposite of my thinking.. heck try it anyway. lol

If you could try with DE off as well that would be great

See how in the bottom of the last larger image that you posted.. there is clear circles down there. That would be either the DE or LC I believe. *just a hunch*

oups, missed that with the LC, here it is.
                        i'll try without DE.
thank you DaForce for your time.

                          ok here we go.

Is this for an animation? if not switch DE and LC back to screen (for their scale). In LC untick the following to be safe, "store direct light" "adaptive tracing" and "use directions only"

Also your filter size needs to be lower. general rule of thumbs is keep it around 4x your your sample size.

okey, seems there are plenty of things i did not get yet.
these settings are for stills, so i'll stick with screen mode.
                            i'll report the results.
                            thank you again =)
