  • Problem with caustics and DOF

I have an interior scene with caustics activated and GI caustics, all is right, looks fine. The caustics in the windows are good. all is done.

I activate Depth of field, and... I cry.

My nice scene became a lot of bright sploshes everywhere.

If I use QMC sampling instead of irrad map, it works. grainy, but working.

I hope that will not have anymore this problem in vray 1.50 but it's always the same.

    Any idea?

    Thanks.

It sounds like it's Bokeh effects to me.
an image (or crop thereof) always helps in case of issues.

Can you show an image of what you are getting?

      Best regards,

I tried to re render my image to send you exemples, but I wasn't able to reproduce it.

        But I had another bug:

I send the render on DR ( 1 master and two slaves) without DOF or bokeh.
It worked very fine on RC3. Now I get this in Irrad map: (image bug_1)

an this in final render: (image bug_2)

(The maps are accessible for slaves, no problem for this)

I disconnect DR and re render. It's correct: image Bug_3

looks like for some reason one or more of the slaves produce different brightness in the prepass. That leads to the bright spots as the irrmap is combined and interpolated. Could be various issues tho i'd say. Different locale settings ? Different Max Servicepack ? Different VRay Versions ?

          Regards,
          Thorsten

            No one of these.

There is no custom local settings on any machine.
Max is Max 9 64 bits SP2 on th master and the problematic slave
Vray is 1.50.00 on the two machines.

curiously, the machine which is on max and Vray 32 bits doesn't have any problem.
The mix of 32 and 64 bit works very well.
