  • Vray 1.5 SP2 DR problem

    Hi.

I have a problem with DR on Vray 1.5SP2 x64

    I have one workstation a two render slaves, all on XP x64, 3Ds Max 2009 SP1 x64, Vray 1.5 SP2 x64.

When I launch DR on all these machines, the first render works fine, but if I tweak some settings and re render, one of the DR slaves keep in memory the previous version of the scene. It result something like the embedded image.

Is anyone having an idea to solve this?

    Thanks.

One thing to do is look at the c:\vraylog.txt file on the slaves and see if they managed to load the new scene correctly (there should be a message about that in the log).

    Best regards,
    Vlado

I think I find the problem, but I don't know how to fix it. The folder is not read only, the file too. I use an administrator account.

Is there a solution to this? Is anyone else having this problem?

We just upgraded to SP2 a week or so ago and just tried DR just the other day and am having the exact same problem. It's like there is a distint color shift on some of the DR machines when they render certain buckets. But it's not every bucket.. just certain ones. And it maybe has something to do with happen after somethign was changed (Lighting/material). It is as if the DR machines aren't using the same light cache and/or IRR maps.

I'm running Max 9 on XP x32 on every computer.

Even after restarting all my DR machines.. the problem still persists!!?!!?!?!?

We often get this. Its a real pain in the ass. Things to check:

          1) Are you using spawner as a service? If so, I have found that using Asset Tracking at setting paths to bitmaps as UNC clears up the problem
          2) Close, then restart spawner on each render node
          3) Are the drives mapped and connected ok?
          4) Reset IRmap calculation before sending next job
          Kind Regards,

Im also having this exact same problem with the render nodes not deleting the scene.
Is there any fix for this?

You can try to remove any files in that folder and see if it helps; I'm not sure if the path to the temp folder can be reconfigured somehow (it should be in some 3ds Max .ini file), but you can try this too.

              Best regards,

Yes i can delete it manually, no problem. but this isnt very efficient.

1 hour previous it was working perfectly with SP1.....

The same issue happened with SP1 occasionally as well, which is why this was modified in the first place...

yes with SP1 it was occasionally. Now it's every time for me.

My renderer doesn't handle DR anymore since 48H. I'm looking for a reinstall, but if there is another solution, ii will be nice.

Only thing I can do at the moment is I can revert this back to how it was and get you an updated build if you email me to vlado@chaosgroup.com

                      Best regards,
