  • Strange color change with stripped render

    Hello Vlado,

I've got a very strange issue with stripped render with Backburner 2008.1 :

    Render with :

    Max 2009 64bits SP1 (Hotfix – Autodesk 3ds Max 2009 – 2009.01.19)
    Vray 1.5 SP2 64
    XP64 (32 render nodes)
Vray License server from 1.5 SP3 (Because i'm doing some test with SP3 before deployment)

No GI at all in this render !!!

The scene is very large 350Mb max file and more than 640Mb maps files.
So I'm using Dynamic mode with 4096Mb (max memory consumption : from 4Gb to 5.7Gb)
No shader applied directly to the object, it's an override mat (multisub with only Vray Mat)

Render nodes are under XP64 :
    6Gb each
    Q6600 mostly, some Q5550 and some i7 920

    Resolution is very big 7016 x 4960 (A3 300Dpi)

I try to lower settings, I try to restart all render nodes... no effect.

Please helps... those render are very long, and I need then until the end of this week.
I can't send you this scene, due to confidentiality.

    Any idea ?

    Best regards

Sorry I forgot to tell that I've got no problem with others passes

I've got another musltisub to make a "by shader" mask pass, only with vraylight mtl and no band at all...

All Cams are Vrayphysical cam with no exposure and no vignetting
    All lights are vray lights...

If you overide with a simple vraymtl, does the problem persist?
      Kind Regards,

Are all the nodes set to the same gamma? I've had the same problem and IIRC it was because of that.

it could also be the regional issue of some computers using decimals and some using commas.
So check the region setting of windoze.

Could it be one of the nodes playing up? It seems from your image that there are 3 pale stripes.
              Kind Regards,

Same gamma ! (no problem with animation in small resolution...) I'v done some render a few week ago with same shaders, maps, and no problem...

Same regional setting (set by policies, render can't access the file server if not in the same regional setting)

we've got 32 nodes... can't be just one node... the stripes are too close...

                      No...

And the maps are on the file server...

No strip problem with a simple vray mat (override...)

This problem just killing me !!!

I think it's a memory issue... but how to correct...

You're using UNC naming for absolutely everything presumably. Check in asset tracking. Also, are you using any form of Vault? We had issues when using that (even though we didn't know we were using it!) with DR so we uninstalled it in add/remove programs.
                          Kind Regards,

Are there reflections on there? If you turn off reflections in global settings, does the problem persist?

I need time to test that option...

We are using a mapped drive, like this :

                              K:\_RD\_FC_RD\Audemar_RD\4_MAX\9_MAPS\_MapsNew\

All maps are in a single directory

Node cannot render at all if they can't access file's server...

                              Best regards...
