Thanks to this forum and the kind people here I can render my scenes again. Had the same 'UNHANDLED' message. Just switch to scanline and then back to vray.
Thanks agian!
Same happened to me, remade a region, saved the file, closed max.
I reopened it later, changed camera and boom... If I stay in the same camera as when the file was openend it will do the 'memorized' region. but changing camera kills the process...
thanks vlado, i got the same trouble here... scanline back to vray. it works... it was doing that in the last 5 years sometines and i did nt do what to do. Sometimes i remove the render elements, reduce the pixels etc... thanks
I've the same problem today. This error happen only when I try to open the material editor: 3ds max crash with this message:
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Rendering region (0,32)-(32,46)
Last marker is at ./src/globalillummap-cpp, line 1428: GlobalIllumMap::buildLightMap () [1]
etc...
So, in the Assign render, I switch the Material Editor option to mental ray Render, open again the material editor (no crash), then change to VRay 2.00.02, re-open the material editor and all works fine.
EDIT: the main PC works fine, but when I try to send and render the scene in our renderfarm, all node give me the same error, with different Render region coordinates, and, after some buckets, the nodes stop to render the scene.
warning: Render host PC01 (192.168.1.3) is not responding
warning: Render host PC01 (192.168.1.4) is not responding
warning: Render host PC01 (192.168.1.5) is not responding

I try the vray-to-scanline-to-vray Switch tips, but I've the same error. No render region usage.
(*) Next step is to save the file and the renderer setting (with the preset tool), close max, reopen and when I try to render in the main workstation. 3ds max crash.
(*) Next, I try the vray-to-scanline-to-vray and I re-create the VRay renderer setting by hand. Crash again.
(*) Next, I try the vray-to-scanline-to-vray and use the default VRay setting. all is ok, but when I try to recreate my renderer setting, max crash.
(*) So, I change one parameter at time, to found the problem. I found it! If I uncheck, the global switches, the Maps checkbox, 3ds max give me the error!
and this is repeatable. When I turn on the Maps tool, max crash or the node give me the error. Every time.
(*) So I turn off every bitmpap in all the VRayMaterial. Same problem.
(*) I assign one white shader for all mash, and all is ok.
(*) Next, I re-assign the shader. The problem is the VRayCarPaint! all models in the scene are white. when I assing the VRayCarPaint, in the node I've a crash
UNHANDLED EXCEPTION: Rendering region (0,32)-(32,46)
I try to assign to a new MEdit slot a new VRayCarPain shader, ma max crash
I re-create the same VRayCarPaint shader. Same error.
I merge all the scene in a new file, same problem!
Conclusion: I can't render the scene
I isolate the problem. Try to open this file and the material editor: max crash. Or render with your renderfarm: the node crash.
It's just a simple chamfer box with 2 VRayCarPaint in the Material Editor: no light, no GI, very simple file
