  • Multimatte with glossy refractions

    Hi,

Apologies if this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find anything on the forum.

Is it possible to have an object behind a glossy refractive surface appear in a multimatte?

I can't get it to work here...

    Many thanks,
    Olly

It will work for a clear refractive surface if you set the "Affect channels" option to "All channels". If you want a glossy effect, you can perhaps add a tiny bump map to the material. I've made a note to implement this for glossy surfaces as well (we already have that working in Maya, shouldn't be a problem to get it in 3ds Max too).

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Thanks Vlado, great idea for a workaround.

Another thing I just wondered: is it possible to have a an object's reflection appear in a multimatte?
