  • VRay DR, x-ref with vray objects not working in combination with DR

We often work with different x-ref scenes to be able to easily edit different elements of complex scenes.
Lately we have started using DR. The problem is that we encountered problems when rendering the x-reffed scenes with DR. The nodes were rendering blank buckets. This failure is not due to missing maps are due to the fact that the nodes cannot find the correct scene files. After debugging, it seems that the problem arises after adding x-ref scenes with vray objects in it, like vray lights, vray proxies and vray cam's.
We often set up a lighting (with vray lights) file, a file with environment and trees (vray proxies), a file with camera's (vray camera's). When i render the scene with x-ref files but without these x-reffed files with vray objects in it, it renders normal. When i ad these x-ref files the nodes render blank buckets.
Did anybody ever have this problem when rendering with DR? Is there a solution to this problem?
We are using 3ds max 2011 in combination with 1.50.sp5.

When we've had these problems, often just cloning the camera and rendering with the new one sorts out the problem.

      Hi Tricky,

This solution for the camera works indeed. But as this problem effects all vray objects, like proxy's lights etc. it would be time consuming to clone everything.
Merging the "vray object scenes" in to the "renderscene" solves the problem. But this means that i will have to merge all x-ref scenes with vray objects in it. I would prefer a solution where i can just render the scene without merging the x-ref files...

        Hi Tricky,

Indeed cloning the camera after having added x-ref files does the trick! Thanks for the help!

        Best regards,
