  • glas refracts materials way too dark (black)

i searched the forum and this might be a common mistake but my glas material is only behaving during prepass of lightcache etc.
the glas material is rendering objects inside the glass way too dark if not black, with the glas hidden the materials inside the glas render fine. the glas has 24 as max reflection and refraction depth so this can hardly be it i suppose. The glas liquid situation is pretty much like in the aversis tutorial: http://www.aversis.be/tutorials/vray...ass_liquid.htm

here is a screenshot of my problem:

i have a feeling it is something very stoopid tho...

thanks in advace, i appreciate it!

Did you check the global trace depth settings in the render dialog?

Shoot me over a stripped down scene or the material and I can try it here if you want.

      Dear Brett,
thansk for the quick reply appreciate it!
I switched the renderer to scanline and back to vray and started over with the settings which took only a minute to redo and it disappeared...so i am short an answer WHY it happened but it's gone

      thanks!

Gotta love the "Mystery Glitch" factor of CGI work Glad it worked out - I've used that fix more than once too.
