  • white Border with matte object and lwf

    Hallo together,
I use a simple setup with a plane as matte object.
For better colors I prefer the vray lwf with Gamma 2.2
To avoid to bright areas I combine this with Reinhard at burn value 0.3
If I render with this setup I get a white border around my object. I tried many diffrent settings and found out that unchecking lwf solves my problem with white borders. But this is not a alternative for me.
The second possibilty is, to use a gray background instead of pure white. But now Im not able to tweak my colors corectly.
Is there another solution for my problem?

Are you doing any compositing work with the render afterwards? You can try using the sub-pixel mapping option, or applying the gamma not in the render, but after you do all the compositing work (using the Don't affect colors option). Also rendering against black background might help.

    Best regards,

      Hi Vlado.
      Thank you for reply.
No the render should be sent "as it is" to the customer.
As I stated a rendering against gray background works in the technical way, but now Im not able to tweak my colors in a sufficient way.
The Vray gamma workflow is in my opinion the best way for a aceptable gamma-workflow.
So I will try the sub-pixel mapping option.
      Thank you,
      Stefan

        Hi Vlado,
        problem solved with subpixel mapping.
        (Why is this option "uncorrect"?)
        thank you,
        Stefan
