  • Irradiance with 'use camera path' + FOV change = no go

    Hi all!

I think this may be a bug - when I prerender irradiance map for an interior fly-through using 'use camera path', and have the camera change it's FOV (from 20mm in the first frame to 15mm in the last), the entire irradiance is calculated for the first value only (20mm). And that gives me some very nasty dark/black blotches in the corners of the later frames.

Or maybe I'm doing something wrong here?

You need to render the maps with the larger angle of view (smaller focal length). Otherwise, you are trying to render parts of the scene that were not visible to the precalculation, so no information is available there.

so, basically, animated FOV is not supported with 'use camera path' mode?
and the only workaround is to render the irradiance map with larger FOV for the whole scene?

did something similar recently with an animated FOV but used Flythrough mode for the LC and Multiframe inc. for the irr map and it worked fine.

Yep, this is how it works right now, although I've made a note to look into ways to avoid the issue.
