  • Flicker Free Rendering (My First Post)

We are a new VRAY user and have a few questions about creating flicker free animations with global illumination.

Vray is awesome yet intimidating with all the available settings.

Our first project is with a camera in a vehicle traveling down the road.
We have about 200 billboard trees in the scene as well.
It will not render flicker free unless we use an irradiance map, but the map takes forever to create (we are using the "incremental add to current frame" method), and using the "along path" switch.
    1. Can we render the irradiance map on a render node (or nodes)?
    2. Is it better to use the "incremental add to current frame" method or "animation prepass"?
    3. We are currently doing every frame, is there a better "nth" solution?

Obviously there are many more settings we can list..
    Best regards,
    David

Since you are having a moving car you should do something like this:

      Thanks for the link.
Because the camera is inside the car, should the car be turned off for the irradiance map creation to eliminate flickering inside?
We need the reflections from the scene on the hood of the car so we cant just render one frame and comp it over.

You can exclude the car from gi to avoid flickering inside but still get reflections

          Nice...
          Thanks Nils!
Can the Irradiance map be created by a render Node or more than one node?
For example, can I use back burner to create them or does it have to be created from one machine?

            Yes

I'm not sure if this is right way but basically

            U got 100 frames
            node 1 do 20 frames
            node 2 do 20 frames
            node 3 do 20 frames
            node 4 do 20 frames
            node 5 do 20 frames

And then u save it all to 1 place... u only have to send the job 5x...

Also untick render final image ofc...

Note that the inside of the car is only going to be lit by the direct lighting so make sure it's not too dark in the car. You can allways add one or two lights in the car ofcourse
