  • Clamp Output on 2.0 give me edge aliasing

I've noticed that Clamp Output with a default setting of 1 will now create nasty aliasing on high contrast edges. You then need to increase the setting to at least 2 in order to clean up those edges. Unchecking Clamp Output/increasing the setting also increased rendertimes slightly.

What's the reason for this new strange aliasing?

    Which V-Ray version is this?

If I kick the Clamp output up to 1.8 or so, the problem goes away.

Vlado, any thoughts? Is this a bug?

There is a bug with the "clamp output" in the original V-Ray 2.0 release; it is fixed for the service pack, but in the meantime, you can either not use it, or else create an environment variable called "VRAY_OLD_SAMPLING" with value "1" without the quotes, which will tell V-Ray to use the 1.5 sampling algorithm.

          Best regards,

Okay, did the variable method and all appears well.

            Tnx, Vlado.

Yes, it should be fixed in the service pack.
