  • vray depth of field flat on in relation to camera position

I realise that the depth of field for vray is calculated from the center of the camera in a spherical way, but for a particular project I require the depth of field to be flat on to the camera so basically there is no falloff towards the edges. Is this possible ? I would prefer to use vray depth of field as oppose to post depth of field as the results are nicer.

The V-Ray physical camera does flat DOF by default.

Would this change if I adjusted the FOV ? because if I look at the vray zdepth channel, the zdepth falls off towards the edges

I am guessing you would need a math formula to take the proper Z-depth position that gets converted to a value that represents a flat plane...Scripting
Sounds rather complicated.....and I know nothing of maths though.

The physical camera doesn't use the z-depth channel, so it doesn't matter what it looks like...

for some reason i cant seem to get the same DOF effect in my physical camera as my regular camera? its not blurring as much even setting the focal distance?
