  • Vray distance texture - inside solid parameter sometimes fails

Hi Vlado, please try to do plane, then 2 spheres which are interpenetrating each others. Then attach 2 spheres to by one poly object. Move it in the midle of plane to be half way inside spheres. Put material with distance texture in diffuse on plane and set distance to 0, far color to white, near and inside to black, check inside solid and choose spheres object to drive distance texture. The result is not black outline of spheres filled with black colour, but black outline of spheres filled with booleaned white color inside.

If you can fix it it will helps me a lot

    Thaks Vlado.

Also second bug in vray distance texture is, when you want to bake animate texture via render to texture tool, first frame is always errory and it takes a very very log time to render ( expecialy when you want to render bigger resolution) The next frame is like it should be and it takes normal time. And for me it happends always. I m using vray 2 sp1, max 2011 x64, win 7

Yep, this is currently a limitation; the texture assumes that the meshes are not interpenetrating. However you can do it with two textures, one for each sphere, and take the maximum from their values (or minumum, depending on how you have your colors set up).

      Best regards,
      Vlado

Do you have a scene for this? I could not reproduce it in a simple test.

I understand but in my workflow Im using cone on which i have path deform modifier with helix path, so the result is one mesh interpenetrating itself so i cant use this solution, the 2 spheres was only for realizing wat is the problem. My question is can it be plese fixed?

Not for the moment; will make a note to look into it, but it is quite a task.
