  • Thinking Particles 4 : VrayMultiSubTex off by one index (Face Material ID)

I am getting some strangeness with Face IDs be off by one index.

I trying to find a way to get a MultiMatteElement type pass when using the Geoinstance node in TP4. As the GeoInstance node doesn't bring through GBuffer Object IDs, I am trying to use a VrayExtraTex with a VrayMultiSubTex set to face IDs. (To get around scenes with all the material IDs taken up)

The problem is that they seem to be off by one index, Is this a bug? or am I missing something?

If you select the Box in the sample file and set the Id to 17 it will render the Red 18 assigned material.

    Cheers,
    -Alex

Ok found a much easier way to get a MultiMatteElement with the geoinstance node

VrayMtl -> Options rollout -> check Override material effect, then simply set Effect ID to any number you want. Create a MME with the corresponding number and be sure to have MatID check

Very handy for getting MultiMatteElements with the geoinstance node
