If possible its always best to either post a sample file or a screen cap of what you are seeing/the settings. You tend to get much better responses this way.

Michael..yes I know..but this is such an obvious thing..no need for a screenshot.. everyone who worked with fog and placed a light inside of it, must have had this issue... so is Vray not able to handle this??

It seems to work here. Again if you can show what you are seeing or a test scene that may help.

Yep, made it invisible and it looks just fine.... Are you using a vray light? Is it a sphere plane whats the setup?

Are you using the 3ds Max fog, or the VRayEnvironmentFog plugin?

                Best regards,
                Vlado

Ok, have you tried increasing the subdivs for the environment fog?

                    Best regards,

Ok, then finally I am posting a screenshot! I can't believe there is no topic about this issue...
Have a look at the screenshot. The background objects are matted off and excluded from atmospheric ( object properties )
The white yellowish almost circle thingy behind her chin is a Vray Light (sphere) which is set to visible.
The light greenish something infront of her chest is a VrayLight set to invisible. For some reason the VrayEnvironmentFog is applied to that light!
To make it 1000% clear have a look at the second screenshot where I switched the spherical light to invisible, and turned on "apply atmospheric" to the background objects

So I think I can't make it more clear.... (^_^)
