  • DOF + Anistropy Bokeh + MB: noise killer ?

    Hi there,

    - I am using VrayPhys Cam, plus DOF, Bokeh and MB.
    - I don't use GI, just a few simple vray lights with hdr maps.
    - cam is animated, objects are animated.

And I realize that noise is all over the place - especially in the glossy reflections.
I know that the hdr maps in the lights are resulting in extreme noisy shadows, but even if I am getting rid of them and if I crank up the noise threshold.
All that doesn't really help, and I don't want to bang the render time into the nirvana.

I know that we had already many threads about noise and flicker issues.
But I never found anything specific for that combination.

So what are your thoughts when using physCam, DOF, Beokeh and MB in 3d ?
How do you deal with that to be noise free ?

thx for any thoughts and hints !

Hard to explain, cracnk up ur lights samples to 96 and AA to 4/10 and that should fix the issue. Also put 48 for material samples...

U also need to up sampling for mb/dof and beokeh

this is just a crop showing the reflection dots on the metal shader - dof, bokeh, mb turned off.
it's just happening in the reflection pass - glossy reflections.

adding DOF and MB will blur it a bit, but the noise/flicker is still there.
glossy reflection samples are already set to 64, light samples 32.

Get rid of the sharpening filter for starters, that greatly exegarates both noise and the dots. 1/4 seems pretty low, so does adaptive amount.
