    Hi All,

Just doing a little R+D at the moment. Currently working on a scene that is illumiated by a dome light/hdri set up (something we use a lot and the HDRI is our own in house file) basically just testing out rendertime optimisation with differing effects (DOF, BOKEH, materials, lens effects ETC)

It is LWF, irr/lc and it renders really well with sub pixel mapping on, but I am trying to get this to work in full float etc. I have explored fixed v DMC sampling, subdivisions for materials, DOF, etc... AA filters, clamping to 5 or 6 (to limit range) and I just cant get a clean highlight sample...???

here are some other tests with subpixelmapping ( http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...type=1&theater) so this isnt a major issue (just turn subpixelmapping on) however I would like to see if I can get this rendered with the full dynamic range, with the full accurate lens effects etc and no noise.

With sub-pixel mapping on, you will still get 32bit full float image in case that Clamp is Off.

but if I have subpixelmapping on I dont get the highlight values that I like... and give some nice glare effects etc.. yes, I have clamp off too. I have the color mapping at linear.. just wondering how I do actually remove the noise you see here?

If you don't want to use clamping at all (although usually clamping at 5 or 6 works fine), then the only other option is to give it more samples. Another option might be to use the shademap in the stereo helper, although it makes the workflow more complicated.

        Best regards,

yep, tried clamping at 5 and still nothing.. used fixed sampling and upped the global sub divisions to 128 and it didnt improve much and it would take and huge time to render fully.. nevermind.. subclamping it is

can you post a part of this headlamp scene perhaps we can have a look at it?
