  • Weird reflection pass

    Hi,

I used MultiScatter for mapping this column-mosaic like you can see in the first image, in the reflection pass i have this strange curve on the column, is not really important in this case but could be in case i want use in compositing for emboss reflection, do you have some clues of the reason?

    Thanks,

As it's so nicely curved on a seemingly pretty flat surface my first guess would be reflection falloff on the material(s). You can try reducing it and see if it helps (it's in the options rollout)

    Regards,
    Thorsten

I think 0.001 should be the default. As far as I know there is no or little performance hit.

That isn't exactly true. If you have a case of really low frequency reflections, and all shaders are set to 0.001 you can expect a rise in render time. With that said though, I usually set them all to 0.001, it all comes down to render time and weather you can afford it.

this seems quite common - the cutoff threshold may need looking at for a future release, with a normalised numeric on the gui.

Well, the default was a good value before all the gamma stuff came along But yes, it needs adjustment and we'll get to that.

                Best regards,
