Is it possible to get multi mat elements to render with a transparent background over black? So in Photoshop you'd have a transparent canvas then red green blue channel there?

Like rendering to a psd file type with the red green and blue as seperate selectable layers, that would be amazing as well.

you can easily do that with the respective channels as masks.

psd-manager can automatically split-up the Multi-Matte elements into 3 PSD layers or channels. It figures out which RGB channels you actually used and names them accordingly. The latest version 3.2.1 also supports the objects-list in MultiMatte elements and creates layer names from the objects you added there.

Yes was thinking psd manager was the way to go. Yes of course you can it with masks. the key here to help with the automation of updating files regularly. If the multimatte could be rendered out and the black background not be applied it would fit the workflow we are trying to achieve with smart object and Photoshop layers. Will need to try the demo of psd manager and see if it can do what we are after. Unless there is magical button we are forgetting to press to do it straight out of the buffer!

I have just updated the psd-manager trial download - it's now at version 3.2.1 and supports 3ds max 2014. If you have any feedback, just send it along via PM or here.

            Thanks,
            Daniel
