  • Using VrayHDRI map in Vray dome - some buckets use wrong subdivs

Dome light set to 512 with VrayHDRI map using free PureLight hdri from Ronen Bekerman site. Perfectly smooth and clean result.

For no obvious reason it suddenly started rendering like this. Only a few clean buckets, the rest seemed to default to 8 subdivs on the dome light.

Through a tedious process of troubleshooting, it's down to the VrayHDRI map. If I swap that out with a normal Bitmap loader, then it's fine.
If i reduce the subdivs on the dome light to 8, then all buckets are the same.
Its only present in the VrayLighting pass (other than beauty pass)

Also this isnt the only place it happened in this image, nor is it the only scene it has happened on.

Tested this on 2013 + 2.3 as well as 2014 + 2.4 and got the same result.

HDRI is UNC mapped on the network, I made sure to test this as well.

    Any ideas??

Can you get us the scene to vray@chaosgroup.com so that we can check it out?

    Best regards,
    Vlado

If anyone interested about this issue, it turns out that very high Dome light sampling quality may leads to difference in the rendered buckets.
We will fix this for the 2.x builds, as the 3.0 works fine.

Thank you for your feedback Alex.

              What is "very high"?
              Over 128, or 256?

                  ah. ok.

I'm curious, does it glitch like this when set to use irradience map as well?
I have only tried setting it really high when checking that option.

Just wondering if there has there been a fix for this issue? Im getting it again on a scene at the moment.

I can email it if need be?

FWIW it disappears if I raise the min subdivs
In this instance, Im using good old 1/100 and moving to 4/100 gets rid of it.

                            Good to know that, thanks.

AA Subdiv. Min. 3 seems to also works well in my tests. Also you could try to decrease the Adaptive amount value with 0.1
