I had this very strange issue when rendering with version 30003 for MAX 2014.

Turning off Embree seems to resolve the problem, but it would be nice to take advantage of the speed increase that this feature is intended to provide.

Looks like the problem which I have described here: http://forums.chaosgroup.com/showthr...ed-with-VRay-3

If I understood Vlado correctly, it might be an issue with the noise map.

Any chance to send this scene for investigation ?
We could provide FTP if needed.

It would be very useful if you can get us a scene as Svetlozar suggested. We fixed a number of these cases already, but it would be good to check your scene too.

        Best regards,

I am having this same issue. I have tried switching from light cache to brute force as mentioned in Mirko's post, but that did not remove them. I have not tried turning off Embree yet like Deadlift315 advised. I have uploaded an archive of the scene to my webserver. 22mb, mostly from a Jeff Patton HDRI

This seems to be one of the issues that we fixed for the next patch; for the moment you can avoid it by using the native spherical mapping of VRayHDRI rather than the one in the "Coordinates" rollout.

Argh, I am having the same problem.

I do use the native shperical mapping so what can I do to remove those horrible black dots?

I have the same black dots but only its showed on render node, the other nodes render fine. Im using native spherical mapping also. This is an old project started on 2.4 but i have recently create a new set of materials on 3. How could i solve it?

                      update:
Even without that render node black dots are back, i have 9 cameras and on some of them there are black dots, and rest not so its maybe, the camera?, also a warning show up "texture map#8 returned an invalid bump normal (XYZ -1 #qnan, -1.#qnan), but that particular map was replaced so there is no map#8. That warning was present on the begining of my rendering session, that's the reason i replaced to fix that warning.

Hi, oligophant, apparently NormalMaps in VrayProxies cause the black dots, so you should replace them by VrayNormalMaps.

If that doesn't help, get the latest Nightly Build of the support team, no more black dots there...
