  • fog & caustics bug in vray 3

Found a strange issue with caustics and fog in vray 3 that's based on viewing angle.

I've overlayed the result of the render on the viewport so it's easier to see whats going on.
This image has the sun hitting the reflective plane, caustics bouncing off and they're visible in the fog, as expected.

This one has a slightly lower viewing angle, but the caustics in fog are being cut off

And this one has an even lower angle with no caustics in the fog visible at all.

Thank you very much for the feedback - we got the same behavior in our environment.
We're going to forward the case to our developers and we will update when we have some news.

Have you had chance to look at what's causing this? since i figured out how to render this pass quickly i'd started to use this technique a lot before we upgraded and theres a job coming up i'd like to use it on.

Yes, although I have not had a chance to push a fix yet. Hopefully I'll get to that either today or tomorrow.

        Best regards,
