  • Rounded edges on imported geometry fails

I realize VrayEdgesTex, when used to obtain round edges in renderings has its limitations. It works fine to round edges on native 3DS Max geometry, not only on straight lines.
On imported (obj, step etc.) geometry however, I get no round edges, whatever thickness I try. Is there a trick to prepare the model so it will show rounded edges?

    Regards,
    Thomas

Try the following: Put a ProOptimizer modifier onto the geometry, tick merge vertices checkbox, set threshold to 0.0. Press calculate and collapse afterwards. Rounded edges should work now.

Also check, if the vertices of the imported models are welded.
Usually you have to weld them manually after importing e.g. a step-file.
i use a welding distance of 0.001 mm
