  • VrayHairMtl and Render Passes

    Hi everybody!

I have a problem with the vrayHairMtl. When I use this on a VrayFur, and when i activate the passes on vray, like VrayGlobalIllumination, or VrayReflection, the passes are mixed between her only on the object contains the vrayhairMtl.
For example, the VrayDiffuseFilter Pass for this shader is on the VrayRefractionFilter, or the good pass of VrayGlobalIllumination is in the VrayReflection.
The others objects are in the goods passes but only the objects with the vrayhairMtl shader have passes mixed.

It was already in this situation in vray 2.0, and in Vray 3, it is the same thing.

    Thanks for your answer

Can you show some images to make it a bit more clear? I've been testing the passes out of the hair material recently and everything seemed to be as expected.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

      Hi,
Here some capture with few passes for example

As you see, in refraction pass, i have a GI pass, or in the refraction filter, i have a diffusefilter pass (same on reflection filter, i suppose it's the separation between root and tip on the fur)

Thanks, can you also show the material setup?

        Best regards,

The "transmission" part of the shader goes into the refraction elements, and the secondary specular goes into the reflection. The diffuse color of the shader is black, so nothing goes into the GI/diffuse filter elements. So I don't see where is the problem?

            Best regards,

Yeah, but normally the diffuse is left in black, it is specified in the vray Help to Fur for example, it is used, if i understand good, for the fibers.

Ok for the transmission in refraction and secondary specular for reflection, but it's confused and mixed, in compositing is complicated when there are others normals objects without fur

Would it be more convenient to have separate render elements for the hair material components (diffuse, primary, secondary, transmission)?

                  Yeah, it's already separate.
The problem is for the compositing.
For the guy on compositing, the refraction pass is for refraction. But with the hairmtl, in refractionpass, there is also the transmission of vrayhairmtl and it is not practice.
I understand the separation between transmission, second specular and the others, but this pass is mixed with the others objets have refraction in the scene.
It is not possible to create a specific pass (render element) like "VrayHairTransmission" or "vraySecondSpecular"?
We have a automatic process and the hair is mixed with the other objects

It is possible certainly - this is what I was asking

                      Oh yeah, sorry, I misunderstood^^
If it is possible, it will be great!
