  • Maximum number of VRayFur strands?

Is there a limit to the number of fur strands? I am trying to model a fur throw, which obviously has many many fine strands. At the moment, changing from 20 per face to 40 per face seems to make no difference (my polys on the throw geometry are rather small)
    Kind Regards,

No, there is no upper limit. However, there is a lower limit of at least 1 strand per face. So if the density is too low, changing it will not really have an effect. It is on the "to do" list to fix this and allow less than 1 strand per face.

    Best regards,
    Vlado

Strange. I wonder why there was no apparent difference between 20 and 40 strands. I will keep testing.

I rendered this last night. It took over 10 hours for a 600x600 render! This has 100 strands per face, 0.1mm thick, 25mm long.

I have a scene file with my throw model that I can supply. Should I email you direct Vlado?

This is the sort of look I am aiming for:
