  • Odd Caustics pattern using displacement and phoenix ocean map

    When I use vray disp + phoenix ocean map + caustics I get a weird caustics pattern. Which doesn't seem like its supposed to happen. Given how "smooth" the water plane looks.
    If I use a noise modifier I don't get this pattern at all even with a more rough surface look.

    *edit* sorry I forgot to mention I'm using a standard spotlight to create the caustics. The large vray light + vray sphere light are not generating any caustics.

    Would it be possible to attach that scene for investigation?
    Let us also know what V-Ray/Phoenix FD/3DSMax version you are using.

        It seems that the Edge Length value is too high by default for this setup.
        Lower values produce better results:
