  • Shade map question

We are testing the Vray stereo helper and the shade map parameter to establish our final stereo workflow.
But we are getting wrong results.

We´re renderering using render elements ( RGB, diff, spec, refl....) using a shade map previously generated with reuse Thresh at 1.0
I upload two horizontal stereo images.
One is the RGB what is perfect....
    RGB_Shademap.exr

And the other is the diff buffer
    DIFF_Shademap.exr

In the diff buffer, ( the same occurs for the other buffers.. spec, reflec.. etc etc but NO in the RGB image) we loose the gamma configuration and we are getting black areas around objects that arent on the RGB buffer
( Both images are rendered at the same time..... )

Any ideas??? We need to work with passes....

    Thank you in advance

      Hi,

Thanks for attaching the renders for this issue.
There is similar bug related to V-Ray Physical camera and Shademap in our system, but it might be different issue here.
Can you attach the scene file as well ? or send it to support at chaosgroup.com
Also which V-Ray version you are using ?

        Sure... no problem.
        Here is it...
It,s a clean and downsample scene.

        Vray 3.10.03

Any news related to this issue are wellcome... we`ll start production stage very soon...

        Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much for attaching the scene file. This is a bug in the shademap code and I can confirm that it is the same issue as the one already reported to our developers, where Camera exposure is applied twice for some render elements (GI, Diffuse, Reflect.. ). In this case the Gamma value 2.2 is applied twice.

Meanwhile you can try to set the color mapping mode to "Color mapping only (no gamma)" and apply it in post. Furthermore the V-Ray camera exposure should be disabled.

            Thanks...

And what about the black borders around some part of the objects??
            It´s normal??
We haven´t workaround for this... We want to use shademap for rendering stereo...

We can use "The color mapping only work around" at this preproduction stage. But we need the color mapping and gamma for production. .

Any news on this issue will be wellcome!!!

              Thank you Ficcion,

Actually I don't get those black artifacts when using the workaround. Here is some render results:

It is difficult to say that, because I'm not sure how much time it will take to be fixed. But if it is urgent for you, we can rise up the priority of this bug.

We´re two motnhs ahead from lighting production stage green button for the movie.... so we still have two months to solve this.

So, if you can adjust the priority ( if needed... ) to this... it will be greatly appreciated.

                          Thanks
