  • dichroic glass

    Hi

Is it possible to create the same effect that the dichroic glass produce with the light?

*The Dichroic glass is glass which displays two different colors by undergoing a color change in certain lighting conditions.

    Thanks

    It's actually pretty easy, yes.
This is what i got in three minutes of playtime.
In order: on the side of the light, on the other side, and from the top.

The shader (base concept only!) is attached as material library.
Notice you will have to choose the light you want the glass to react to, in the (twice instanced) falloff map.
Let me know if something isn't quite clear.

i was trying to reach this effect (image). Its a project from james carpenter, and he uses the dichroic glass to achieve a color. And this color changes thanks to the direction of the natural light.

The chances you are going to be able to render the effect into the scene in a way that looks good is very low. It will be much faster to start thinking about how you can do this effect by rendering several passes and painting in post.
