  • Deep Volumetrics have wrong z-sorting.

I'm trying to render a vray environment fog with the deep samples but it's rendering incorrectly and samples aren't getting the correct Z-Position when they overlap.

which deep merge fragment mode are you using in the optionRE render element? maybe its an accuracy issue. Are those lights you're adding in comp?

It's a gizmo volume for the environment fog. I'm not using the optionRE render element to my knowledge. I'm just checking "Deep fragments" in the environment effect and rendering straight to EXR2 through the vray output.

Haven't done much with the deep data yet but the optionRE render element has some settings that effect the way the deep info is saved. Thought it might have an effect on what your doing.

          Hello,

Can you try with deep merge frament mode : By render ID and with By Z-depth

These option are in VRayOptionRE, you can check this link for reference:

          http://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/VRAY3/VRayOptionRE

Let us know about the results.

Thank you very much for the scene.
What are the exact V-Ray and 3DSMax version and which is the frame number of the screenshot from your first post of this thread?

Thank you very much for the clarification. We managed to reproduce the issue into our environment.
It is considered as a bug and it appears only when multiple gizmos of the same Atmospheric overlaps each other.
One of our developers is looking into it right now, we'll get back to you as soon as we have any progress on that regard.
