  • Precalculating Irradiance Map

hey guys, ran into an unusual issue here. Not sure if it's the norm or not as I don't do many animations/use the irradiance map much...

I'm currently rendering out an irradiance map prepass (not particularly high settings really) on a quite big site and the first pass (of 4) only seems to be using ~20% CPU usage at most and is very slow, yet the 3 subsequent passes all fully utilise the CPU and rocket through the calculations.

Oh wait, it's crashed on the third frame... Bad times, this needs to go out for rendering asap.

It might be loading vrayproxies or textures.

Do you have vray displacement turned on? if so, kill it. you can usually do IR passes with it off and not notice a difference.

          Turned that off, still nothing.
