multisubobject material + vrayhdri map = viewport slowdown

  • multisubobject material + vrayhdri map = viewport slowdown

    as the title says, when you have a multi/sub-object material with just simple jpg textures on the slots, changing from shade to wireframe is fast and viceversa.... but if you convert the textures to vrayHDRI the viewport performance is terrible.

    has anyone experience this?

    I´m using 3dsmax 2016 and latest vray build.

      anyone? I tried it in another computer and behaves the same.
      would this be a bug? nobody uses multi/sub-objects material?

        The current project I'm working on behaves exactly like you describe : long lag when switching from wireframe to shaded and vice versa. I'll check tomorrow the scene to see if I have used vrayhdris in multi/sub-objects materials.

          I've more or less the same problem (basically, 90% of our mats are multisubs). Extremely long file loading time if I show all textures, and hiding all textures is really fast. (No bitmap paging, max 2016)

          I initially thought it was my graphic card so I've ordered a new one

            for sure is not the graphics card. I have 2 different video cards and the problems persists.
            Is there a script to revert a vrayHDRI texture input to a normal texture input?

                Hello!

                It will be very useful if you could send us a simplified scene that presents the issue. We haven't been able to reproduce it so far.
                I observe a small lag only during the initial loading of the maps in the viewport. Further switching between viewport modes happens immediately.
