Camera clipping + HDRI = black background?

+1 My vote too, using a domelight to easily align the background HDRI with the sun is much easier to use than bitmap rotation.
Instead of unlinking near and far, an option would be to check if the HDRI light itself is within the far clipping range to determine if it should be shown or not. Or a domelight option to ignore clipping, that would be backwards compatible. Older scenes wouldn't render differently then. As long as there's a way to show the domelight HDRI when near clipping is used.3DV - Ruud van Reenen

I didn't realise this was even an issue until I came in to a load of black sky renders this morning! Just a checkbox on both near and far would work for me - never use far clipping myself.Check out my (rarely updated) blog @ http://macviz.blogspot.co.uk/
