  • forestpack transforms by distance tex.. wierd glitches .. deadline time.. ...help?

ive sent an email to itoo, but in case its a vray issue..

ive got splines with a "splinemesher" growing a cylinder along them. im using this to make trees pop up along the path ( scale from 0 with distance tex referencing the splines)

i get random areas of trees (seem to be triangular/polygon shaped areas, dont match any scene geometry) outside the area of influence, jumping up and down in scale.

id suspect it was the splinemesher causing issues, but ive had this problem once before, with a simple editable mesh with the vertices being animated, as the dist.tex. driver. it randomly went away, so i never pursued the cause.

the distance tex itself seems to be working fine. ive got it masking some geometry in and i get no glitches. i guess its a forest issue.

anyone got a fix for this? ive got about 2 hours to resolve it

is related to the "inside solid" and "inside seperate" options in the distance tex. if i disable those, the glitches stop.. however then my trees get smaller again once they are inside the driver geometry, which is no good at all...

ive spoken to ITOO who have reproduced the bug.. but they claim this is due to the output of the distance tex and there is nothing they can do.. im not sure what is wrong with distance tex .. seems to work fine for all other uses ive found..

I just thought that you might want to run the distance tex through clamp and clip it, who knows maybe it'll help.

not a bad suggestion.. found a workaround for now, but ill definitely revisit it in the next few days.
