    hi vlado,
thanks for the speedy answer. how come it`s a problem when it wasn`t in 2.5 ? the code has changed i presume ? this is quite a blow, it`s going to mean a lot of extra messing about in production scenes with motion blur making sure the renders are ok. personally i`m not sure that progressive is the answer for us, it can be quicker to a reasonably quality level but i find it slower for better quality in general as it takes longer to clear. also i notice that increasing min AA only works to a point and then seems to get worse again.
how big bucket size would you recommend, as going forward we`d need a definitive solution not to have to adapt every scene until it works ?

    thanks
    anthony

Could you suggest the kind of settings you'd expect to have to push to for something such as this as I am still getting missing buckets even with min=4, max=40. As I haven't really changed the minimum from anything but the default of '1' for many years, and we have rarely, if ever used motion blur in our work, I'm not sure what I should be expecting.
In this case you might either try increasing the bucket size, generally it will help, or use progressive sampler.

Of course it was present in 2.5 as well and I've seen in many times. However in V-Ray 2.5, by default we shot at least 6 rays per pixel for moblur - which would be equivalent to 2 or 3 min. subdivs in V-Ray 3.x

If you want a universal solution, that would be disabling the "max subdivs" and only using the min. ones (equivalent to the Fixed sampler before), but of course then you'd have to adjust the min. subdivs for every scene depending on the amount of moblur and noise in order to get usable render times, so I don't recommend that approach.

My advice would be to use the default 48 bucket size, 2 or 3 min subdivs, and maybe a slightly larger AA filter.

        Best regards,
        Vlado

ah, i`ve been defaulting to using a 24px bucket maybe that`s it.
          thanks i`ll try it.
