  • Rendering trees with opacity mapped leaves are slower

    i noticed this on many scenes so far,why is this so and is it a good to avoid it all together?

    what 'opacity mode' do you have set for the leaf materials?

    there has been discussions about this in the past which is why 'opacity mode' was added.

        Here are some settings, these are evermotion models use as is, i noticed now that translucency is also being used which i usually don't use but this particular set of trees is have had to use for a specific reasonClick image for larger version

          this has pretty much always been the way with vray.

          though it got improved a lot with different modes.

          try Stochastic, or clip

            What the others said, try Stochastic or Clip opacity mode.

              Clip mode for stills, Stochastic for animations.

              for m in (getclassinstances vraymtl ) do
              (
              m.option_opacityMode = 1 -- 0 for normal mode / 1 for clip mode / 2 for stochastic

                Thanks guys! hope it also solves the render selected issue as well, no matter what is selected as long as opacity maps are in the scene it seems to render those as well and it takes ages, i already made a report about here on the forums, here is a good example, only the roof is selected yet it renders out the trees as wellClick image for larger version

                  Are they affecting the Alpha along with the RGB?

                    Hi, if i turn the opacity to clip, do i still need to set the blur value to 0.01 and filtering to none or not?
