  • Irradiance Map Animation Mode - Files are loaded correctly but GI is not applied

    Dear all,

I have some problems with a precalculated GI (Animation Mode of Irradiance Map). If I want to rerender some frames of the animation with better noise settings (to eliminate glossy reflection noise), I use the Irradiance Map Animation Mode and load the precalculated files from disc. In addition I recalculate the lightcache in Single Frame Mode and with use camera path option. Lightcache is used for glossy rays.
All seem to work fine, but in the final image, the GI is not shown. I have tested this with just rendering GI, no reflections etc, and the frame is black. Strangly this doesn't occur on all objects, but at the majority of them. Does anybody know how this can happen? The full image that was rendered before looks good.

    Cheers

    Robert

Is it possible that the problem are the render IDs, that the irradiance map stores? My Vray Version is 3.2.

got it, many objects had a keyframe at frame 0, even if they didn't move. Once I deleted them, the GI is applied again to the objects.

I have to take it back, not solved unfortunately. The gi is wrong, leaks and artifacts. So once a job is finished on the farm, I cannot reuse the Irradiance Map in Animation mode. I have tried all different settings, they don't seem to have an impact. Does anybody have the same issue? I have neither changed geometry not cameras, but maybe grouping, layering etc. does have an impact? Or is it object ids, render IDs? But I have not changed this as well. The gi looks good, if i load the single frames in the irradiance map viewer.

What is the V-Ray versions that you are using?
Did you generate the IM caches with the same or previous V-Ray version?

Would it be possible to send us the scene for investigation with a few screenshots of the result you got into your environment?

            Dear Svelozar,

We currently use Vray 3.20.02 on both workstations and render farm servers. Irradiance Map and final images were calculated with the same vray version.
I would like to send you the scene for investigation, but I need an NDA from my company to be prepared, because of the customer data we render. I will try in the meanwhile to create a dummy scene which maybe has the same issue.

            Thanks and kind regards

You may try to remove the confidential information from the scene while preserving everything else, in most of the cases the issue will be also preserved.
Make sure that the issue is still there otherwise we won't be able to reproduce and fix it.
