  • exclude objects from denoising?

    hi,

is it easily possible to exclude objects from the denoiser render element? i have subtle bump that gets nearly lost by denoising. the rest is cool!
thought that i read this anywhere?

    thanks

You could add a multimatte render element to create a mask for those objects and then use it to blend between the denoised and original version of the image.

thanks master vlado, would be cool to have an exclude list...or a denoising-preselect by xxx...

In my opinion it's not worth the button since it's so easily done in post. Besides I am actually amazed at what detail the Denoiser keeps especially in those subtle bump areas. I had such surfaces myself and it does a really good job at preserving said intentional noise.

Have you tried denoising per element?
It's much better at detail retention of the type you seem to be losing.
